The Bee

French country decor combines traditional French elements with the utilitarian farmhouse lifestyle to create a home that is elegant yet casual. A popular motif found in French country decor is the bee.

Hello Sunshine

I'm so happy to see the sunshine this morning. It's been so cold here in Virginia. I've been longing for spring, so I decided to start planning this years selection for my garden.  Last year I planted more roses than I've planted in past years, because they bloom from spring until fall.

French Armoire

Nothing screams french country more than a beautiful french armoire.  Armoires are prevalent in Europe, because unlike American homes,  closets space is very limited.  There are some apartments, or flats in Europe that have no closet space at all.  Although, most American homes have  nice sized closet spaces, you can never have too much storage.  A beautiful french style armoire would add practicality, beauty and style to your french country home.

Boxwood Wreaths

I have this thing for preserved boxwood.  I have to restrain myself from buying every wreath or topiary I see.  You see, I have so many wreaths, I've had to come up with some clever ideas for hanging them.  I hang them on mirrors and doors, even from the bannister.  There is just something so french country about boxwood wreaths and topiaries.

French Chateau Wine Cellar

How about turning an unused closet space into a french country wine cellar.  I fell in love with this DIY project.  To get this look, simply remove closet hardware, paint the walls, hang a few pictures, and finally, add a small cabinet to store your beverages and glasses. To add more interest, and give your space more of that french chateau feel, install a wrought iron gate to the door hinges.

Holiday Tour of Homes

I know Christmas is over:(. However, I wanted to post a few pics of some of the beautiful homes I visited this past holiday season.
